About

In extenso is a contemporary art venue established in 2002 in Clermont-Ferrand. Thanks to its ambitious programming and numerous exchanges and collaborations, it is now widely recognized internationally. Its mission is to disseminate contemporary art through two main activities: exhibitions and publications.

Whether in its physical exhibition space, during off-site projects or in the pages of

La belle revue, the association offers space to artists and artistic structures, to promote their work locally and internationally, and to support innovative positions in today's cultural and artistic landscape.

In extenso thus supports a vast network of art workers, reflecting the plurality of cultural exchange, movement, mobility, new generations and shifting politics that shape these territories always subject to transformation.

In extenso is committed to a vision of art that is community-based, engaged and inclusive. It supports innovative creation and contributes to its recognition. The association addresses a wide audience, working in close collaboration with cultural structures in Clermont-Ferrand, as well as other national and international structures, contributing to the creation of a strong, tightly-knit cultural network in which the city of Clermont-Ferrand has become the essential hub.

History

Founded in 2002 by artists Marc Geneix and Sébastien Maloberti, In extenso is a contemporary art association in Clermont-Ferrand (France) that aims to support and exhibit the work of local, national and international artists.

The association has a space in the heart of Clermont-Ferrand where it organizes between three and four exhibitions a year. In extenso also offers occasional off-site programming through partnerships with French and international structures.

Since 2005, In extenso has been developing its publishing activities in order to reach audiences beyond its exhibition space. The association occasionally publishes exhibition catalogs and artists' books, but its regular editorial activity is with the publication of the contemporary art magazine La belle revue.

Founded in 2009, La belle revue is a free annual paper magazine, accompanied by a bilingual website that is updated regularly. Along with Zérodeux, it is one of only two free magazines in France, and makes a major contribution to the cultural influence of Clermont-Ferrand and the Auvergne Rhône Alpes region of France. Essential to the recognition of this often overlooked cultural territory, La belle revue aims to support a vast ecosystem of artists, critics, structures, institutions and art venues in Centre-France Auvergne Rhône-Alpes, and beyond.

In its 20 years of activity, In extenso has gained national and international recognition - thanks to its collaborations with international artists and structures, and its activities linked to La belle revue - and has thus made a major contribution to the influence of the city of Clermont-Ferrand in the field of contemporary art.

Graphic Identity

A signature with trembling features is adorned with its most beautiful attire. It dresses up every day with a myriad of 'charms' depending on the occasion. A first wardrobe of accessories for everyday life - a ring, a heart, keys; a second for each season; and a last one, an exceptional one, for special occasions.

In extenso's graphic chart, designed by Traduttore, traditore, reflects the multifaceted identity of our association, and our diverse activities: an exhibition space that disguises itself with each exhibition as well as a range of editorial projects. In extenso is a dynamic and changing place thanks to the artistic proposals that identify it, characterise it and define it.
